Inductions Recap...

If you were too sleepy/hungover/busy/elsewise occupied, to come to our Induction talks, fear not! I've attached some links and the relevant SU information you need below.. Enjoy :)

First Off here's a musical welcome from your representative Sabb team for the year. #TeamSabb...

USWSU Poem
The Liberty halls and Atrium students were treated to a poem recital of an insight into some of what USWSU do. Have a read for yourself...

What, oh what does USWSU do?
If you haven't heard of us before, you might not have a clue.
We help you with your education
And welfare issues too.
The bottom line is
We're here to represent you.

From sports and societies
Club and activities
Pop into the office to find out more
And you can grab a McVities
You can also get involved
In our student council elections
Or visit our ideas factory
And make business out of your inventions.

We represent all students
Female, male, LGBT
We'll make your student life great
At this South Wales University

Sport at USWSU
We have lots and lots and lots and lots of Sports Teams on offer at the Union. Take a look on our website for a full list. You'll need to contact each individual sport to find out wether they are come along teams or trial based teams. If you're not one for the competitive side, we run intra-mural leagues on a Wednesday where you can turn up and play. To find out more information about anything sport related, talk to Debbie Downes (based in Treforest)/Chris Hughes(based in Caerleon).

Clubs & Societies
We have over 60 clubs and societites here at USWSU. A comprehensive list of which can be found on the uswsu website. If you can't find a society/club that suits your needs or you have a society/club or group you'd like to start up, you can do so! Setting a society/club up takes 5 interested people and then its a case of filling out some simple forms with our societies co-ordinator Melanie Monks.

Representation
We have lots of representative opportunities at USWSU. You can become a courserep and voice the opinions of your course. You can become an SVR and voice the opinions of all course reps in your faculty/school to the University heads and Sabbs. You can become a Student Council Officer and change and shape the way your Union works. There are loads and loads of opportunities to get involved with representation. For more information on the opportunities available browse the uswsu website or talk to the democracy manager - Mandy James. Here's Some videos of a student that did some representation work last year:
Volunteering & Fundraising
We have lots of volunteering and fundraising opportunities at USWSU. You can volunteer under many organisations and schemes. Details of these can also be found on our website. We also run a group called RAG (raising and giving). These are responsible for all of the fundraising activity on campus. Last year we had a group climb kilimanjaro for charity. They raised a whopping £40,366.95 for charity. We also had some students travel through Europe to raise money for charity. Their combined total raised with the rugby girls naked calendar seen the charity gain £875. We recently held a bungee jump for charity and have plans to hopefully run a jailbreak along with the usual fundraisers for Movember and Pink October. If you'd like to get involved contact either Myself or Melanie Monks.
